Roadside vendors - EricBurger

Street vendors are a common sight in Africa. You will find them at the traffic lights in the larger cities where vendors will sell you anything from windscreen washing services, phone power supplies, lottery tickets, newspapers to clothing (they will happily join you in your car whilst you try that new pair of jeans) and a seemingly unlimited range of other items.

Outside the cities in the country you find the roadside stalls where you can buy cooked food, fresh produce, chickens and other livestock as well as household utensils and the ever-present large bags of charcoal (Africa’s trees are converted into this energy product at an alarming rate). Interestingly often a particular area will focus on a specific product, such as honey or brooms and brushes.
